Viet Cong are comprised of a group of friends who have played together in various different bands over the last five years, including highly influential band Women. What emerged from the studio was a mixture of sharply-angled rhythm workouts and euphoric ‘60s garage pop-esque melodies, balanced with a penchant for drone-y, VU-styled downer moments. Their debut EP was initially released on cassette tape, and later pressed to vinyl through Mexican Summer in July 2014, titled the ‘Cassette’ EP. Through inventive recording techniques, improvisation or a blending of genres, Viet Cong are constantly challenging themselves. The bands self-titled debut LP was released in January of this year to much critical acclaim.
