About Colin Stetson

Recognised for his formidable talents as a horn player, Colin Stetson has worked live and in the studio with luminaries such as Tom Waits, TV on the Radio, Arcade Fire, Lou Reed and Laurie Anderson. As a soloist, he has developed an utterly unique voice, principally on saxophones and clarinets, his intense technical prowess matched by his exhilarating skills as a songwriter.

Colin’s physical engagement with his instruments produces emotionally rich and polyphonic composition. He is equally at home in the avant jazz tradition of players such as Evan Parker and Mats Gustafsson and at the nexus of noise/drone/minimalist music that encompasses genres like dark metal, post-rock and contemporary electronics like Tim Hecker, Ben Frost – both of whom have mixed or remixed Stetson recordings.

“With his eerie voice and giant sax, this Arcade Fire and Bon Iver collaborator makes head-spinning, innovative music…it’s the raw physicality of the performance that transfixes, multi-textured and immersive, his work really is like nothing you’ve heard before” ***** The Guardian
